THE NECKS IN EXCITING NEW AUSTRALIAN TV SERIES, WITH AUDIO ON INTERNET
10pm on Tuesday 2nd of May sees the first episode of SET, an exciting new
(Australian) ABC-TV series of live improvised and experimental music
performances, and the first episode kicks off with The Necks playing a 25
minute piece, Taghairm.
The audio from SET will also go to air on ABC Radio National’s Music Deli,
on Friday 5th May at 8:00pm, repeated on Sunday 7th at 4:00pm, and then
again on Tuesday 9th at 2:00am
Necks fans outside Australia will be pleased to know that the audio will be

The Necks are one of the great Australian underground acts.
With Chris Abrahams on piano, Tony Buck on drums, and Lloyd Swanton on bass, they’ve produced 12 critically acclaimed, highly successful albums that have sold in the thousands, all with a minimum of publicity and mainstream media support.
In 1998 their evocative soundtrack for Rowan Woods’ The Boys was nominated for Best Musical Score at both the AFI Awards and Australian Guild of Screen Composers Awards and in 2004 their 11th album, Drive-by, received the Aria for best jazz release.
Decidedly difficult to pigeon-hole, The Necks inhabit a space somewhere between minimalism, ambient music and jazz; yet remain distinct from all of these forms.
